Work beyond training

Training Is Only Part of What We Do

We don't believe in magic solutions or promises of instant change.
More than twenty-five years ago, Business Training Works started as a training company. We designed courses, built workshops, and sent facilitators into rooms. The work was good. The results were real. And over time, a pattern emerged.
Organizations would complete a strong training program and then struggle to make the learning stick. The session ended. The manager moved on. The habits that formed in the room dissolved back into the habits that existed before it. The training had worked. The behavior change had not.
That gap is why our services expanded. Training changes what people know and, when designed well, what they can do. Sustaining that change requires something more: clear expectations from leadership, reinforcement in the weeks after the session, assessment data that identifies where the gaps actually are, facilitation that surfaces the real issues rather than the comfortable ones, and coaching that works on the specific behaviors a leader needs to change in real time.
Business Training Works now offers support services, because behavior change at the organizational level rarely comes from a single intervention. It comes from a coordinated effort that addresses the problem from multiple angles at once.

Scope of Services

Our core catalog covers twenty-one topic areas and more than four hundred courses, delivered onsite, virtually, or through self-paced online formats. Every program is instructor-led by a facilitator with at least twenty years of experience in learning and development. Our content is original, our frameworks are proprietary, and our sessions are built around active learning rather than passive exposure. Topics include leadership and management, communication skills, business writing, negotiation, customer service, presentation skills, facilitation, change management, team building, conflict resolution, sales, project management, cross-cultural communication, diversity and inclusion, productivity, storytelling, human resources, nonprofit management, train-the-trainer, thinking and planning, and business etiquette. Training is where most engagements begin. It is not always where they end.

Some leadership challenges require more than a workshop. A leader navigating a difficult transition, correcting a communication pattern that is creating friction, or stepping into a significantly larger role needs focused, individualized support that a group training program cannot provide. Business Training Works coaches leaders at the director, vice president, and executive level through exactly these situations. Coaching engagements begin with a structured assessment, build a focused development plan around a small number of high-impact behaviors, and work through real situations the leader is navigating right now. The goal is not insight. It is sustained behavior change that holds up under the conditions of actual work.

When a leader manages the process, the leader cannot fully participate in the conversation. Hiring a professional facilitator solves that directly. Business Training Works facilitates executive retreats, strategic planning sessions, change management retreats, and high-stakes working meetings for organizations that want productive conversations and usable results.

Business Training Works delivers interactive keynotes for professional audiences who expect substance. Sessions draw from real training and facilitation work, which means the frameworks are field-tested, the examples are grounded, and the interaction serves the learning rather than the entertainment value. Keynotes can stand alone or connect to breakout sessions and follow-on programs that extend the work after the general session ends.

Business Training Works designs and facilitates conference breakout sessions built around focused topics, structured interaction, and practical takeaways. Sessions are available in facilitated discussion, scenario-based, workshop, and working session formats, and can be delivered in person, virtually, or in hybrid settings. We can support a single session or a full breakout track across a multi-day event.

Business Training Works designs and facilitates team-building programs built around structured challenges with real constraints and skilled facilitation. Each program includes a debrief that connects what happened in the activity to how the team actually operates at work. Programs are available in a range of formats and calibrated to the group's composition, comfort level, and the outcome the client is trying to achieve.

The Corporate College is Business Training Works' structured, long-term workforce development solution. Rather than purchasing disconnected courses or reacting to training needs one at a time, organizations partner with us to design and manage a coherent learning system aligned to business priorities. We handle the assessment, curriculum design, delivery, and coordination. The organization's leaders focus on reinforcing the learning and holding the expectations.

When a team needs to build capability quickly, a boot camp format delivers focused, intensive instruction across four to five days without sacrificing depth or rigor. Business Training Works designs and delivers boot camp programs in leadership, business writing, train-the-trainer, sales and negotiation, and custom topic areas. Sessions are instructor-led, hands-on, and built around application so participants leave with skills they can use immediately.

Training programs age. Content drifts away from how work actually gets done, sessions grow long without growing more effective, and materials that once felt current begin to feel generic. Business Training Works rebuilds existing training programs that are ready for a refresh, keeping what still works, cutting what does not, and rebuilding the parts that no longer reflect how the work gets done.

Business Training Works offers a range of assessment tools that surface individual strengths, communication styles, leadership tendencies, team dynamics, and organizational readiness for change. Assessments are useful at the start of a development effort to identify the right targets, and equally useful midway through an initiative to measure whether the work is producing the intended results.

Culture does not change because leadership announced that it should. It changes when the standards, behaviors, and management practices that govern daily work change. Business Training Works helps organizations move from culture goals to operating reality: identifying what the organization currently rewards and tolerates, defining what it needs to reward and tolerate instead, and building a plan that leaders can execute under real conditions.

Some needs do not fit a standard program. Business Training Works designs custom training, develops original content, builds reinforcement systems, produces supporting materials, and takes on development projects that fall outside the boundaries of a traditional training catalog. If the need is real and the fit is right, we find a way to address it.

More About Our Services

Work across hundreds of organizations has shaped how we approach every engagement. Here is what that means in practice.

Experience with Less Overhead

Most organizations that need serious development work face the same problem. The large consulting firms have the expertise but not the appetite for an engagement that does not come with a seven-figure budget.

Business Training Works fills that gap. Clients get facilitators, coaches, and consultants with decades of real-world experience without the overhead that makes that caliber of guidance inaccessible to most organizations.

We Find the Gaps

On the consulting side, much of what we do is diagnostic. Organizations come to us because something is not working — a team is underperforming, a leadership transition is not going smoothly, a process is creating friction nobody has named yet.

We help identify where the real problem is before we recommend a solution. That distinction matters, because the presenting problem is not always the actual one.

We Build What We Do Not Have

When an existing program does not fit the need, we build something that does. Business Training Works does not rely on off-the-shelf solutions.

Our facilitators and designers have spent decades developing original content, proprietary frameworks, and custom programs for clients whose situations did not match anything already on the shelf.

Your Size
Fits You

Some clients need a single program delivered well. Others need a long-term partner who can support development across an entire organization with consistency in quality and approach.

We work both ways and everything in between. The engagement is shaped around what the organization actually needs, not around what is easiest to deliver.

One Firm, Many Capabilities

Most training firms do one thing. Most consulting firms do another.

Business Training Works sits at the intersection of both, which means a client does not have to coordinate between multiple vendors when the need spans training, facilitation, coaching, assessment, and consulting.

One relationship covers the range.

Rich Experience Across Sectors

Our client list spans Equifax, Elevance Health, Southern Company, the US Census Bureau, the Department of Energy, Pitney Bowes, and Mozilla, alongside federal agencies, military branches, healthcare systems, nonprofits, and Fortune 500 companies across nearly every sector.

The range matters because the experience that comes from working across industries and organizations of vastly different sizes and cultures produces better judgment than experience confined to one.
