Course Highlights
This course will:
- Introduce the Training Wheel, a holistic model of an organization’s learning ecosystem.
- Present the Training Sandwich Model, emphasizing the role of supervisors in priming learners and following up post-training to ensure skill application.
- Explore Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Evaluation to assess training effectiveness and its impact on behavior and results.

- Share strategies for cultivating a culture of continuous learning and development throughout the organization.
Course Overview
Creating a learning culture within an organization goes beyond delivering training sessions—it requires a deliberate and comprehensive approach where learning is continuously reinforced, behaviors are modeled and coached, and results are evaluated. This one-day onsite program introduces participants to Business Training Works’ Training Wheel Model, which frames training as part of an interconnected learning ecosystem. This model illustrates that training alone is not enough; it must be supported by leadership, behavior modeling, coaching, and regular feedback.
The course also explores the Training Sandwich Model, which emphasizes the crucial role of supervisors in ensuring learners are prepared for training (the “top slice” of the sandwich) and supported afterward through coaching and reinforcement (the “bottom slice”). This model helps ensure that the lessons taught in training are applied on the job and that employees are set up for success.
Additionally, participants will learn how to measure the effectiveness of their training programs using Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Evaluation—Reaction, Learning, Behavior, and Results. They’ll also explore how training outcomes can be tied directly to annual performance reviews, helping to create accountability for demonstrated behaviors.
The session also focuses on fostering a long-term commitment to learning and development across all levels of the organization. Participants will learn how to promote a learning culture that not only trains employees but also ensures they grow and succeed through continuous feedback, retraining, and, when necessary, counseling.
The following outline highlights some of the course’s key learning points. As part of your training program, we will modify content as needed to meet your business objectives. Upon request, we will provide you with a copy of the participant materials prior to the session(s).
