Course Highlights
This decision-making training course will:
- Define decision-making and how it differs from problem-solving.
- Explore six types of organizational decisions and how to classify problems.
- Provide a three-phase problem-solving framework for addressing complex challenges.
- Offer practical tools for breaking down problems, analyzing options, and evaluating solutions.
- Identify common decision-making errors and how to avoid them.
- Examine team dynamics and decision-making in group settings.
Course Overview
Defining problems clearly and making informed decisions are essential skills in any organization. This course examines why people make decisions, why they sometimes delay them, and what tools are needed to make confident, sound choices. Participants will learn how to define problems effectively, evaluate options, and make decisions that align with both short-term needs and long-term goals.
The Define-Decide-Do Model will guide participants through the decision-making process, from problem definition to implementation. Participants will also explore six types of decisions commonly made in organizations and practice classifying problems into well-structured, ill-structured, and complex categories. The course introduces a range of decision-making tools and frameworks to help navigate challenges more efficiently.
Through simulations, case studies, and hands-on activities, participants will identify and avoid common decision-making mistakes and develop stronger team-based decision dynamics. By the end of the course, attendees will have a toolkit of strategies to define problems, evaluate solutions, and make better decisions both individually and as a team.
The following outline highlights some of the course’s key learning points. As part of your training program, we will modify content as needed to meet your business objectives. Upon request, we will provide you with a copy of the participant materials prior to the session(s).
