About Business Training Works

OUR STORY

While most people remember Y2K as the year of a potential computer crisis, we look back at the turn of the century and see our beginnings.

In those early years, we ran our onsite training business with nothing more than a laptop, cell phone, a dial-up connection, and a desire to bring fun and affordable soft-skills training to the marketplace.

As time moved on and technology advanced, so did we. Over the last decade, Business Training Works has grown to include a large library of training courses and a network of skilled trainers and workshop facilitators who teach subjects ranging from leadership development to creativity and critical thinking skills.

OUR PRINCIPLES

Throughout our evolution, we’ve followed a few key principles:
 
Transparency: Be clear, and share information.
We don’t believe anyone should be left in the dark or guessing, and we want to make it easy for people to learn about us without having to disclose their email addresses, shoe sizes, blood types, or other personal details. Site visitors can freely review our pricing, workshop summaries, and training course overviews without having to fill out a form.
 
Fit: Work with the right clients, not just any clients.
Sometimes we know we’re not the right fit, and if this is the case, we’ll tell you. For example, no matter the circumstance, we can’t teach a full range of technical writing skills in three hours and do justice to the content or the client. We also know when training is not the solution to a workplace problem. We would rather turn down work than take on something we feel won’t be successful for us or you.
 
Innovation: Create, don’t copy.
Great facilitation and fresh content are the lifeblood of our organization. Each week we write new and original materials in response to emerging needs in the marketplace.
 
Flexibility: Be nimble.
We understand that no two clients are exactly alike, and we’ll do what we can to adapt to different organizational cultures and demands. Rigidity has little place in our business, and we make every effort to say “yes,” if what is being asked of us can be done well. If this means we’re teaching at 9:30 at night, we do it. Or if we find ourselves working with double the number of people you expected, we create a way to pull it off. In the end, we want you to view us as trusted partners and advisers.
 
Improvement: Constantly improve and evaluate.
We believe standing still equates with falling behind. Our facilitators and trainers are lifelong learners and dedicated to helping people reach their objectives. On the rare occasion that something doesn’t go as planned, we want to know what we could have done differently. We will then take corrective action to make it right if we can.
 
Fun: Work hard, and have a good time while doing it.
We love what we do, and we want it to show. If there is a way to make what we’re doing fun, we will. 
 
OUR CREDENTIALS

Our facilitators are seasoned professionals with thousands of hours of experience working with corporate, nonprofit, and government groups. Many are Certified Speaking Professionals (CSPs), a designation awarded by the National Speakers Association (NSA) to speaking professionals with proven track records. Additionally, we are a certified woman-owned business and are on the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule.
