Course Overview
“Stand by Me: Bystander Intervention Skills” shows employees how to recognize and respond to harassment and discrimination in the workplace. The course opens with an exploration of workplace harassment and microaggressions, helping participants identify behaviors that contribute to a negative environment. Participants will examine common psychological and social reasons that often prevent bystanders from intervening, opening a space for candid discussion about these challenges.
The course also explores how individual conflict resolution styles can impact intervention choices. Through the “5 D’s”—Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, and Direct—participants will learn multiple strategies for addressing harassment that can be adapted to different situations and personalities. By the program’s end, employees will be prepared to take appropriate, safe actions when they witness harmful behaviors, actively supporting a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
