Executive Coaching

Business Training Works’ executive coaching program can help you identify and develop the skills you need to accelerate your performance and take your career to the next level.

The Process

All of our engagements begin with a three-prong assessment. We want to learn what you know about leading others, how you are perceived by your coworkers and subordinates, and where you would like to be at the end of our time together. Our information comes from three sources: a leadership knowledge assessment, a 360-degree feedback tool, and a goals questionnaire.

Once we know where you are, we will work with you to map out a development plan.
When the plan is in place, we will schedule monthly phone calls or video conferences with you to work through the process and review your progress. These sessions will last about an hour. You may also contact your coach with quick questions between calls if needed.

At the end of the program, you should have the groundwork in place to take your next step and sustain lasting change.

Questions About Coaching

Why do people hire a coach?

There are several reasons organizations turn to executive coaching for their people:

  • To develop employees with high potential.
  • To increase the likelihood that an executive will be successful in a new role.
  • To improve deficiencies and current job performance
What types of skills do people typically wish to improve?

Everyone’s strengths and needs are different, and no two people follow the identical path. Most coaching programs, however, include some common themes:

  • Interpersonal skills
  • Team management
  • Presentation skills
  • Written communication
  • Personal presence
  • Time management
  • Strategic thinking
  • Work-life balance

Who is a good candidate for coaching?

Coaching works when the executive commits to the process. If you have developmental goals, a desire to change, and are willing to do the work, executive coaching can be life changing. On the other hand, if you simply want to be somewhere other than where you are without making the investment, this process may not deliver what you expect.

Is coaching fun?

Coaching can be fun, but it can also be uncomfortable. During our time together, your coach may ask you some hard questions to help you stretch and grow. If you only want to focus on what you do well, our program is not for you.

What if I don’t feel comfortable with my coach?

For this process to work, there is a level of trust that must exist.

Before we enter into a coaching agreement, we schedule what we refer to as a fit discussion. This is your opportunity to interview a potential coach or multiple coaches. If you are not comfortable for whatever reason, you may choose someone else.

Will my coach tell me what to do or if i am suited for advancement? While your coach may make suggestions, he or she will not simply tell you what to do. Instead, you can expect your coach to guide you to your own conclusions. Ultimately, your answers will determine how you move forward.

How long does this take?

Depending on your goals, our programs can last anywhere from three months to a year.
