Course Overview
Organizational change can unsettle routines, confidence, workload, and expectations all at once. This virtual coping with change training program gives participants a practical set of tools for managing reaction, staying focused, and adjusting as change unfolds.
The course covers why change happens and how it affects organizations and people, then introduces the Change Transition Curve and the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral reactions that often appear during transition. The program also addresses fixed and growth mindset patterns, focus choices using Control, Influence, and Concern, and stretch strategies for adjusting work style under stress.
The closing part of the course reinforces resilience through I Have / I Can / I Am and integrates the tools across realistic workplace situations through GROWTH. Throughout this virtual training, the emphasis stays on helping participants cope with change in practical ways while work continues.
The following outline highlights the course’s main learning points. For virtual delivery, the structure and timing are intentionally set to support discussion and practice. We can adjust emphasis or drop select elements based on your business priorities. Upon request, we can preview the participant materials with you prior to the session(s).

Program Modules
Shake It Up: Why Organizations Can’t Stay Still
The course opens by establishing why organizational change is constant. Participants will examine common drivers of change, including technology, customer expectations, competition, regulation, economic conditions, and internal improvement goals. The group will discuss how change affects organizations and people, setting a shared baseline for disruption, uncertainty, and opportunity.
Riding the Wave: Examining the Change Curve
This part of the course introduces the Change Transition Curve and frames change as a process over time. Attendees will examine the Ending, Neutral Zone, and Beginning phases and will sort observed reactions using the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral reaction lens. The discussion reinforces that movement through the curve is uneven and non-linear.
Pinpointing Patterns: How People Respond to Change
The program presents mindset as a factor that shapes reaction and recovery. Learners will compare fixed and growth mindset patterns and will identify how each one shows up in self-talk and response choices during change. The focus stays on awareness and adjustment rather than labeling.
Control, Influence, Let Go: Choosing Where to Engage
This module introduces the Three Circles framework as a way to focus effort during change. The group will sort elements of a real or recent change into Control, Influence, and Concern and will apply the List It Out → Refocus → Let Go sequence to redirect energy toward actions that matter.
Stretching Strategies: Building Flexibility
The course then examines how strengths can turn into stress habits under pressure. Participants will identify which work-style pattern fits best and will select stretch strategies that balance speed, optimism, stability, or precision. The discussion reinforces Spot It / Stretch It / Support It as a way to sustain adjustment.
Floating in the Ocean: Staying Motivated and Resilient
The closing module focuses on resilience during ongoing change. Participants will work with I Have / I Can / I Am to identify supports, choices, and strengths that help maintain steadiness. The group will also apply the GROWTH framework to identify development opportunities created by change.
Target Audience
This training is designed for groups that want to:
- Strengthen coping skills during organizational change.
- Improve awareness of reaction patterns and mindset choices.
- Focus effort, adapt work style, and build resilience while work continues.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is this session?
The program runs approximately two hours as a single virtual session. It works well as a standalone offering or as part of a broader organizational change effort where employees need support alongside leadership training.
Is this course appropriate for employees who are experiencing change right now, or is it better for those preparing for future change?
Both. The tools address change at any stage, and the course works whether participants are in the early disruption of a new initiative or several months into a transition that still feels unsettled. The pre-session conversation helps us calibrate examples to where your group actually is.
Does this course ask employees to talk about their feelings in a group setting?
The session treats emotional reaction as normal and worth understanding, not as something to perform or confess. The discussions focus on recognizing patterns and selecting practical responses rather than on personal disclosure. Participation in discussion is always voluntary, and the facilitator creates conditions where people can engage without pressure.
Our employees understand the change. They just are not handling it well. Is this the right course?
Yes. Understanding a change and coping with it are different things, and this program specifically addresses the gap between the two. The tools focus on what people can do with their reaction rather than on explaining the change itself.
Is this course appropriate for groups where some people are more affected by the change than others?
Yes. The Change Transition Curve and the mindset and resilience frameworks apply across different levels of disruption, so participants at different stages of adjustment can each take something useful from the session. The facilitator will discuss the composition of your group during the pre-session conversation.
Can this program be paired with leadership change training?
Yes, and that pairing often works well. When employees receive coping tools at the same time leaders receive implementation tools, the conversations across levels tend to be more productive and less defensive. We can discuss sequencing and coordination during the pre-session conversation.
