Course Outline
The Actors: What Makes a Good Trainer?
To start the program, we will discuss some key background ideas including principles of adult learning and what the word "trainer" means.
Sincerity Shows: Projecting the Right Image
Next, participants will learn how to make good first impressions and how to maintain that image. They will also explore what being genuine means and how to connect with others.
Classroom Management: Acting Assertively versus Aggressively
In this segment of the program, participants will explore the differences among passive, aggressive, and assertive behavior and why assertive behavior is important for a facilitator to adopt.
Asking the Right Questions: Getting the Right Answers
This part of the program focuses on open-ended questions, closed questions, and the communication funnel.
Can You Hear Me Now?: Listening
In this unit, participants will identify their listening strengths and weaknesses through a quick quiz and a personal inventory. We will also discuss some ways that participants can improve their listening skills.
Developing Rapport: Connecting With People
During this part of the program we will look at ways to build rapport and how to use facilitative training. Participants will then evaluate themselves to see what skills they need to develop. To conclude this segment, we will examine some potential problem situations and ways to defuse them before they materialize.
Takeaways: Dos and Don'ts for New Trainers
To summarize the learning points, participants will discuss and produce a checklist of dos and don'ts.
By the conclusion of this program, participants will have had an opportunity to practice basic skills and should be ready to tackle a short session on their own.
