Successful business presentations include several different components: a script, an actor, a performance, and an audience. This program marries those elements to help participants learn how to prepare and deliver dynamite sale presentations to senior executives, internal departments, boards, and others who make decisions.

Course Outline

Deciding the Format: Business Writing Basics

To get started, we will look at some basic ways that business writing is different from other kinds of writing, and we will examine two types of proposals: formal and informal.

Writing the Script: Getting Thoughts on Paper

Next, we will look at some ways to organize and sequence a proposal. Then, participants will apply those methods to a sample proposal.

Adding to the Cutting Room Floor: Editing and Enhancing Presentations

This segment of the program explores some basic editing practices and techniques to "jazz up" documents.

Preparing to Go on Stage: The Handshake

This portion of the program discusses the importance of first impressions and handshakes. Participants will write and practice introductions that will position them to present their full proposals with ease.

Raising the Curtain: Elements of a Successful Presentation

During this session, we will explore five keys to success through a lecture and small group work. Participants will practice presenting to the rest of the class.

Dealing with Cheers and Jeers: Answering Questions

The course will end with a discussion of handling questions from audience members, difficult clients, and impatient executives.

At the program's conclusion, participants will have an understanding of the components of a successful sales presentation and will have practiced crafting and delivering a presentation of their own.
